Menuhin School is sued over child sex
NewsFourteen former students at the Yehudi Menuhin School in Stoke d’Abernon, Surrey, have instructed a lawyer to take action over historic sexual abuse at the institution.
The allegations first came to light in an interview I published with Nigel Kennedy in the Evening Standard in 2003. Kennedy, who was Menuhin’s protege and the school’s first international star, said he knew of girls and boys in his year who had suffered sexual interference by their teachers.
The school denied any such awareness at the time but said it had since tightened up on child protection. In 2019 its former derelictions were brought to light at a public inquiry into child sex abuse.
One perpetrator who weas repeatedly named was the the school’s founding music director in 1964 Marcel Gazelle, a close friend of Menuhin’s.
“. . . out in Surrey with the friiiiiiinge (benefits) on top” . . . . . and yes, we’re well aware that this a serious and terrible situation, not to be made light of.
When he died in 1969, somebody sent a wreath to the funeral endorsed ‘To Marcel Gazelle who fondled quite well’. It was removed just before Yehudi arrived.
Much more is alleged by the 14 complainants.
He was very close to Yehudi, as was another abuser Maurice Gendron.

I understand that the Discogs forum management are using the public accusations to harrass Ms Galina Tanney,by refusing to remove her page or false information (recently added) that she is a “teacher of violin/viola” at YMS.
She never taught there,isn’t listed as a teacher and actually suffered a career-ending injury in 2018.It’s alleged they were offered money to post erroneous info deliberately.
Police reports had to be filed about Discogs.
