The website of Vienna’s main concert hall has been taken offline following an apparent bot attack.

No connection is being made to the devastating three-day whiteout that has disabled the Metropolitan Opera, eliminating online box-office and communications.

The Austrians are not pointing the finger yet at Russian bot factories. If it is a ransomware attack, they will probably deal with it quietly.

Should feel like in the good old days: Written applications, tedious phone calls, sleeping-bag romantics outside the box office…

    • Stenka Rasin says:

Why don’t they target the Coliseum – ENO’s sales are such they’d never notice.

    • Petros Linardos says:

I remember some fun conversations about Parsifal and Tristan while waiting for hours at the Bayreuth box office, and eventually walking away empty handed.

Meet Russian culture at its best.

That’s apparently the Austrian version of “what was initially described, with classic Gelb evasiveness, as ‘network issues’.”

Moscow’s Bolshoi has maintained a classical ballet school in Brazil for more than 20 years now, in the southern town of Joinville.

Bolshoi sends the teachers from Russia and the town provides for the running costs of the school. Young dancers come from all over Brazil and neighbouring countries to take part in highly competitive admission exams.

Results have been good. Graduates of the Bolshoi Brazil quickly get to work at Brazilian ot European dance companies. Some have made it to the Bolshoi Theater casts in Moscow, closing the loop back to the mother-company.

Maybe the French have been paying attention, and decided to have a try at their own South American talent. Good luck!

  • Matthias says:

Cyber attack confirmed. Server infected by malware, their internal systems are fine, though.
