From the soprano’s instagram feed:

“An end of year finds us reflecting, as always. And I have to tell that despite all the hurricanes which passed over me, this year was very good one! The year was better than the previous one which left confusion and foreboding. Now, there is no foreboding – but there is Christmas Tree and the ladder! The dress will be ironed, the jewels will be put on, and – FORWARD! With coming New Year!

  • Young sleuth says:

The lack of empathy and the moral emptiness of this woman is jarring

    • Tom Phillips says:

All she’s ever had to offer in her 5 decades on earth was the quality of her singing voice – and now not even that.

      • Geraldine McMahon says:

Yes, the quality of her singing voice when she could be bothered to turn up and actually perform.

      • Potpourri says:

Reviews of her recent performances disagree with you.

        • Tom Phillips says:

I heard her La Macbeth at La Scala just over a year ago – utterly horrific, wobbling all over the place, can’t imagine any improvement since.

        • shosh says:

yes, you are absolutely right. All the reviews defined her all performances in the last year as triumphal-sold out- stand ovasions- from another dimension,…

    • Jack Claxton says:

So what should she do instead, do you suggest?

      • Dixie says:

Be more attentive to the problems of others. What about the “friends” she claimed to have in Ukraine? No mention about the fact that Putin’s bombs and Iran’s drones are pouring down on them throughout their country. One gets the distince impression that only SHE counts, and on a lower level her son and husband.

      • Tiredofitall says:

She could use her celebrity to ease the pain and suffering of others. The public has given her much over three decades; she should return the favor. She has a platform should she care to use it.

    • Amos says:

She is the personification of ignorance is bliss and let them eat cake.

      • Tom Phillips says:

A completely superficial vacuous human being outside of her one area of (steadily diminishing) talent. I remember a Russian emigre here in New York dismissing her as nothing more than an ignorant “peasant”, which sadly seems to be the case despite her obvious wealth.

        • Potpourr says:

Tom Phillips, You dismiss Anna Netrebko as an ignorant peasant! Most Americans are descendants of “ignorant peasant” immigrants who valued education and hard work. Many have achieved high levels of success, but apparently still carry that ugly class conscious designation.

  • Carl says:

I wonder what the significance of her son’s camoflag outfit is?

I’ve come to see every missive from her as some kind of trolling of the west.

    • Potpourri says:

Carl, camouflage has been fashionable for years, featured on the runways by Balenciaga and Valentino. Pop star Rhianna favors camo. From music to fashion, Slipped Disc is a cultural touchstone.

  • Tiredofitall says:

    How nice for her.

  • Khaldoun Bismillah says:

Happy new year, and best wishes to Miss Netrebko. She has a beautiful voice, and is indeed a gift to the world.

  • Couperin says:

She’s so disgusting, but fun to laugh at!

  • Capriccio says:

    Happy New Year to Armenia

  • Tim WALTON says:

Serves her right for supporting a mass murderer.

  • Potter Herald says:

I love the fact that all the problems of war you rely on this woman. If only she disappeared we could have a peaceful world

    • Potpourri says:

Potter Herald, your witty sarcasm is true and accurate. Angry people need a target and Putin is safely behind Kremlin walls. Anna Netrebko is a very famous Russian and appears publicly in front of thousands worldwide. She condemned the war, was called a traitor and has not returned to Russia since the invasion. Netrebko is wise to be discreet because prominent critics frequently have accidents and fall out of buildings.

  • J Huizinga says:

Virtue signaling nadir from the non-musicians here.

  • Dixie says:

President Zelensky has announced sanctions against against 119 Russians and Ukrainians, including Anna N., which include freezing assets and prohibition to enter the Ukraine. The latter will most likely not ruffle her feathers, but the former … ? Will she also let us all know via Instagram what she thinks of that?
