No, but it does add something to further complicate an already complicated plot.
A dear friend once cancelled a high-profile production of “Cavalleria rusticana” because the director wanted Santuzza to be visibly pregnant, which was not to her liking (and Catholic upbringing).
She looks gorgeous!!
Louise Alder will be a wonderful Fiordiligi. Best wishes to her. And singing with child — remembering the very open public discussion Christa Ludwig had of the effect of pregnancy and childbirth on her voice! May all the notes and hormones be in the right place now and in the future. Ms Alder deserves the best.
