What’s that wall behind the orchestra covering up the stage-rear seats?

Is that part of a set or is that the new configuration of the hall?

Oh, it’d be more meaningful if European orchestras toured Kyiv.

This is not the Pierre Boulez Great Hall in the 2010s new building, this is the Concert Hall of the Cité de la musique, the 1990s original building.

Very fine concert. Great to hear the recently-rediscovered “Symphony in C” (1770–1772) by Maxim Berezovsky, which the programme made a point to call the first Ukrainian symphony rather than the first Russian one.

There was a first part in the atrium, with five Ukrainian singers performing traditional songs. Good music, but we were all crammed together, standing up except for the officials who had been granted seats, few people would see anything, and you could hear some phones ring or the security teams using their walkie-talkies. The joke was that the music was Ukrainian, but the organization was Russian.

And where do you propose the Berlin Phil performs there without becoming the target for a missile attack or some such other catastrophe waiting to happen?
