There’s a last-minute new Leonore in the performances of Beethoven’s Fidelio at the Gstaad and Grafenegg festivals.

Her name is Sinead Campbell Wallace and she’s fairly new to the full dramatic repertoire. All of a sudden, she’s sharing a stage with the hottest tenor.

Toi-toi, as they say on the Liffey.

Concert performances of Fidelio will be led by Jaap van Zweden conducting the Gstaad Festival Orchestra at 7.30pm on 11 August in the Gstaad Festival Tent and on 13 and 14 August in the Grafenegg Festival Auditorium.

  • Brad M says:

She was a fantastic Tosca with Scottish Opera a few years back and is back with them for two of the Trittico operas next season.

  • Tenor13 says:

She will be the next big star

  • Graf E. Negg says:

She is a wonderful singer, and will no doubt be an outstanding Tosca at ENO in September… I am jealous of those Londoners who will get to hear her!

  • Enrico says:

A very fine soprano indeed, now fast rising through the ranks, though you might have a crossed wire somewhere as I’m fairly sure she is not in the ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper. Check her agents website: https://www.wehmeyermanagement.com/sinead-campbell-wallace

  • Daphne Fresle says:

I heard her last night in the Gstaad concert performance of Fidelio with Jonas K. She stole the show. Wonderful

  • Kathleen Noonan says:

She was a wonderful Tosca for Irish National Opera a couple of weeks ago. A definite star in the ascent.

  • Player says:

Appearing sooner than that, as Mimi, in Croydon (!) for ENO…

  • Jim says:

In the last few years Sinead has achieved wonderful successes at home with Irish National Opera – in Fidelio at the Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre and as Tosca in the Bord Gais Theatre.

  • John O'Connor says:

I think u meant Slaney rather than Liffey.

Saw her in Tosca in Dublin in July. Was awesome.

  • Sinéad says:

No one in Ireland says “toi toi”
