We learn with great distress of the death of Gérard Corneloup, a music critic and historian who reviewed for Le Figaro Lyon and was the author of several works of music.

He was found battered in the foyer of his apartment building in Lyon, France, and died some days later in hospital.

His empty wallet was found several streets away.

Gérard was 76.

A horrible, horrible report. The sadness and trauma of his ending must feel totally impossible for his family, colleagues and closest friends.

  • Christian Thompson says:

Gérard was a lovely and kind man. Extremely knowledgeable.
He was very supportive of me and our work at the Orchestre national de Lyon.
And we lived in the same building…… we often walked together to the hall for concerts.
    Such an unimaginable tragedy.
