Used to be times when the whole world stood in sympathy and solidarity with Shostakovich writing music in the besieged Leningrad. How has all changed, thanks to the Kremlin genius.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I know freedom-loving people are supporting the Ukrainians. It is a shame that it seems like all we can do is watch on our TVs the atrocities committed by Putin and his thugs. But I supposed WWIII is not a good option.

My fear is that a beleaguered Putin, pushed into a corner, will activate the button, just as Hitler would certainly have done if this had been available in 1945. cf “The Heroes of Telemark”.

The most moving part to me was the end when they stood and just stared straight ahead at the camera.
