The Academy of St Martin in the Fields has appointed Annie Lydford as chief executive from September.

Annie has been running Nevill Holt Opera in the Midlands for the past couple of years. The Academy was founded by Neville Marriner. All spellings in this paragraph have been checked.

Joshua Bell, ASMF music director, said: ‘I believe that Annie will help the Academy deliver on exciting new artistic projects and explore new ways to engage with the community. Under her guidance, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields will strive to be innovative and forward thinking, while continuing to honor the legacy of Sir Neville Marriner’.

    Is that one of the principal chairs she’s holding?

    As a Yank tourist at St. Martin in the Fields years ago, I was struck by two things (tourist at the church, not a concert). It may have once been in the fields, but London has long grown up around it. And in the main vestibule, parishioners are buried in the floor with their flat gravestones part and parcel of it.
