The eighty-year-old Catalan gambist, conductor and concert organiser, one of the biggest icons in early music, has finally been invited to make his debut with the Concertgebouw orchestra on April 26.

(Happily, he accepted.)

He will conduct works by Bach, Handel, Rameau and Geminiani.

  • Hispa-vox says:

Canadian, not Quebecer. US-American, not Hawaiian. German, not Bavarian. Austrian, not Styrian. Spanish, not Catalan

  • Melisande says:

Unlike the information that Jordi Savall will finally make his debut with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, does not mean that the gambist and his former Hesperion XX and XXI played in the Concertgebouw, viz. in 1993 and in 2008.

  • Ricardo says:

First and foremost a great musician who has made a superlative mark on the music world. I count his and Hesperion’s recording of Purcell’s Fantasias as one of my most treasured CDs.
