We have been informed by a number of sources that the Ukrainian composer Ihor Poklad has been rescued after being trapped in a bunker in occupied Vorzel and running out of food and water.

Poklad, 81, is a winner of the Shevchenko National Prize and composer of many popular songs.

Former Ukrainian minister of culture Yevhen Nyschuk has posted: ‘Ihor Poklad, brilliant Ukrainian composer, laureate of the Shevchenko Prize, Hero of Ukraine together with his wife Svitlana, mother and two dogs are safe! I thank God and the Guardian Angel, volunteer Konstantin, who, at his own risk, took his family out of the temporarily occupied Vorzel in the Kyiv region. Two weeks under the explosions of mortars, hail … Without light and water … The family went through a terrible time, hell, a dangerous way home … and I was incredibly happy to see and hug them today! To tears! Artists should create, not experience this!’

Just what Bagatelle is Leif Ove Andsnes is playing so beautifully. I would very much like to find the music in order to play to and think of the horror Ukraine is going through.Thank you ~ Christopher from Nova Scotia
