Flooding in the basement of the Richard Wagner Museum has causes damage to about one-third of its contents, around 4,000 books and manuscripts.
The cause appears to be surrounding garden works and a blocked pipe.
The full extent of damage is still being assessed.

I would hope that all the manuscripts had all been microfilmed before this.
And then I’d hope that the microfilm wasn’t stored in the basement.
It is surprising that the water got to a level to damage a third of the contents before it was noticed or stopped.
