Diva dumps agent
NewsThe Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and her husband, the British conductor Karel Mark Chichon, have ended a long relationship with AskonasHolt and moved across London to Intermusica.
They will be managed directly by Intermusica’s owner Stephen Lumsden, with Rachel Walters and Leyla Güneş.
Lumsden said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Elīna Garanča and Karel Mark Chichon to the Intermusica family, as they look to increase their concert appearances internationally. Though joining us together, it is important to pay tribute to their extraordinary individual talents, and we look forward to managing and developing the next stage of their careers.’
It’s interesting how people who deal with beauty day by day (music), are so frustrated and never satisfied with how their careers are going. Always looking for the greener grass.
So they’ve changed their agent. What entitles you to guess their motives, let alone judge them?
Unless you know the people involved and their situation, you don’t know the reason(s) for the change.
Odd comment given Garanca was with Askonas for over a decade!
In my experience, people change agents for an array of reasons. Sometimes it is because they don’t feel their agent is doing the best for them, sometimes someone leaves the agency and the relationship with the replacement doesn’t work out, and sometimes you just go to someone who is better aligned with your career aspirations, or you feel can do more for you.
No matter the reason, I don’t see why a singer/performer shouldn’t shop around and find the team that’s going to do the best possible job for them?
Does it mean Madame Fully Vaccinated still has someting what makes her think ? Pfizer ( or what jab she has had) apparently supplied waste stuff to her vaccination center 😉
PS by the way – I can’t hear any big facts on so-to-speak P.A.N.- demia , Ukraine cure seems to have healed all ill-minded ( both fuguratively and literally) news on the subject … I really started to believe Benjamin Fulford 😉
Understanding this message and relating it to the above blogpost, or even reality in general, is beyond me.
Would you care to explain the relevance of your mini-tantrum, please.
When will she ever return to the Met? Her cancellation record there is at least as bad as Kaufmann’s and almost matches Terfel’s.
I believe the bulk of her cancelations we’re caused by her two pregnancies and the illness and then death of her mother? She’s been pretty reliable before the pandemic. Unexplained Don Carlos cancellation was odd though.
The Agent works for the artist and not the other way around. He lives off the artist.
