Presto Music, in collaboration with the classical record labels BISChandosDelphian, Naxos and Toccata, has launched an initiative to raise much-needed funds for the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine.

A curated selection of 12 recordings by key Ukrainian composers from the 18th to the 21st centuries is offered on CD/SACD and download: click here to browse through the selection of recordings by Ukrainian composers.

The labels are providing the discs free of charge, and also covering the royalties and copyrights, whilst Presto is handling the sales, logistics and shipping. This means that 100% of the sales revenues will go directly to humanitarian relief in Ukraine.
Chris O’Reilly, Chief Executive of Presto Music, says “The dual opportunity to explore this largely neglected repertoire whilst raising much-needed money for this cause is one which we’re sure classical music fans worldwide will embrace“.
Ralph Couzens, Managing Director of Chandos Records, adds “The chance for the classical recording industry to come together like this is our small way of doing what we can to raise funds for our friends in Ukraine“.
The humanitarian fundraising campaign for Ukraine of Presto Music has raised so far more than £8,000 in total: all funds will be donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via the Red Cross – https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appeal

It’s a nice gesture but I think an even better one would be to use funds for discs of Russian composers to fund the Ukrainian humanitarian crisis. Would raise a lot more money.

  • Wally Francis says:

What a splendid idea – top marks to Presto & Chandos.

Let us hope Warners and DG get involved as well.

What are the ‘big boy’ labels doing? Also the larger independents.

  • Well done. The are in an unfair war. Putin’s war.

  • Brettermeier says:

Naїve could fire Lisitsa and donate whatever that contract was worth.

  • Thomas M. says:

Is Presto Music a label? I’ve never seen any recordings with their name on them. I think they’re just a vendor.
