The death has been announced of Wolfgang Marc Berry, a teacher at the Joe Zawinul Music School. He was 62.
Wolfgang was the son of Golden Age stars Walter Berry and Christa Ludwig. He once wrote Austria’s Eurovision entry.

For anyone wondering, the Joe Zawinul Music School is in Gumpoldskirchen, Austria, located about 30 kilometers southwest of Vienna.
RIP, Mr. Berry.
A gorgeous place, which I visited in 2011 when living in Vienna.
He had a strange upbringing. According to Ludwig’s autobiography, she had a selection of different whistles she would use to tell him what she wanted in order to protect her singing voice. He was raised mostly by his grandmother, also a former singer. He mentioned in an interview how unhappy his childhood was as he almost never saw his mother.
Sadly it was like that in those days.
