Music teacher who seduced teen in his car is spared jail
NewsA Yorkshire music teacher in his 20s who had an affair with a pupil and gave her the morning-after pill has received a 12 month sentence, suspended for two years.
The girl is said to have suffered depression ever since the affair, more than 20 years ago.

She was a 6th former and under 16, so intellectually precocious but still a child emotionally, psychologically, socially and physically, her teacher definitely took advantage of her, and the school and parents should’ve been much more vigilant and protective when a child is placed in a class ahead of her age.
I’m not sure they have their facts straight.The definition I read is this “The term sixth form describes the two school years which are called the Lower Sixth (L6) and Upper Sixth (U6) by many schools, students aged 17 or 18 by 31 August.” That made her above the age of consent in Britain.
And another news source said this:
“Ian West, prosecuting, said Matthews first met the teenager when she was a schoolgirl but the sexual relationship didn’t start until she was a college student.”

he should get the sack. suspended sentence is a slap on the wrist.
Yorkshire maligned. A very disappointing read in the Daily Mail, however the man concerned was from County Durham……
How do you suspend a 12 month sentence for two years?
Is that like two years probation in the US?
Unfortunately news like this isn’t as surprising as it is shocking. Men get away with assault all the time.
