The Royal Theater in Copenhagen has appointed Marie Jacquot as its chief conductor from 2024.

Jacquot, 31, is presently first Kapellmeister at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf und Duisburg. This is a big step up, and it’s a five-year contract.

She succeeds Alexander Vedernikov who died tragically of Covid in October 2020.

Since then, Copenhagen have been working with the Italian Paolo Carignani as principal guest conductor.

Jacquot is managed by the Viennese agency Raab & Böhm Artists.

Yes, young beautiful women will rise in this profession. Vanessa Benelli Mosell will become music director of a major orchestra.

Why? What do you base that on? Have you played with her, or heard anything she has conducted?
She is in my opinion one of the most talented I’ve ever played with.
