US music director returns from Covid break – and quits

Shortly after the Colorado Springs Philharmonic gave its first concert since the Covid shutdown, its Spanish music director Josep Caballé Domenech said he’d had enough.

He will see out one more season, leaving after a dozen years in the job.

He gave no reason but it seems he is disillusioned by a long labour dispute, during which the orchestra’s mission statement was diminished.

    we’re all a bit drained after the last two years and many people have been re-evaluating what they really want in life – there’s a rule of two feet: if something no longer suits you, then walk away.

      You should read a little about what they have done to the musicians of this orchestra if you have the chance. Pretty typical.
