US music director returns from Covid break – and quits

Shortly after the Colorado Springs Philharmonic gave its first concert since the Covid shutdown, its Spanish music director Josep CaballĂ© Domenech said he’d had enough.

He will see out one more season, leaving after a dozen years in the job.

He gave no reason but it seems he is disillusioned by a long labour dispute, during which the orchestra’s mission statement was diminished.

    we’re all a bit drained after the last two years and many people have been re-evaluating what they really want in life – there’s a rule of two feet: if something no longer suits you, then walk away.

      You should read a little about what they have done to the musicians of this orchestra if you have the chance. Pretty typical.
