Stockhausen’s son leads German non-vax manifesto

A very long list of German musicians topped by the trumpeter Markus Stockhausen has signed a declaration calling for concert restrictions to be removed against people who have refused the Coronavirus vaccination.

They say, in part:

We musicians point out, with reference to the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PVER) No. 2361 of January 27, 2021, that vaccination is an individual decision. In conclusion, no one may be compelled to vaccinate or, in the event of a refusal to vaccinate, discriminated, blackmailed, threatened, defamed, persecuted, stigmatized, isolated or otherwise disadvantaged; be it through the state, the economy or social majorities. This must apply precisely if the vaccine is so new that approval is only granted on the condition that research results are subsequently submitted. Said resolution applies to all areas of existence and to peaceful social coexistence and was passed by the Council of Europe, the independent guardian of human rights in Europe, on January 27, 2021. It stands on its own as a reminder to the responsible representatives of all European countries.

We musicians do not want to feel pushed into a position in which we are forced to recognize the state-imposed 2- or 3-G rules for access to art and culture and thereby create a gap between us and our beloved audience, to tear open our fans and friends. We are in no way entitled to request such health data. This is a task that, if at all, can only be carried out by the state.

Comments

  • A.L. says:

Fair enough. But with over 5MM, and counting, dead worldwide, think of what the toll would be if there had been no vaccines.

  • John Borstlap says:

    Translated:

“We demand the freedom to get seriously ill, and to disrupt the medical system with our numbers, so that other, uncoronised people who need hospitalization – including in life threatening conditions – cannot be helped and may die, because we think that individual freedom is more important than responsibility for the world.”

It is the extreme point of view that one is entirely disconnected from the environment and other people, i.e. from the world, that one never has any responsibility than for one’s own, and that one lives in a small bubble of self-delusion. Entirely logical that someone conceived by Stockhausen leads the mob.

    • Mystic Chord says:

We like to think of musicians as cultured and educated types – sadly this lot are neither …

Perhaps they can form a giant anti-vax orchestra, the Dogma Philharmonie, and entertain themselves in private?

    • Jeff says:

If this is your logic, then ban cigarettes, alcohol, certain foods that make people sick, prescription drugs that destroy peoples livers and kidneys, etc etc. I am pro vaccine btw. I just think this approach you take is non productive and will never induce intelligent conversation with anyone.

      • HugoPreuss says:

You can’t pass alcoholism to someone else by just being in the same room with him. That is a non-trivial difference…

Unfortunately for these lunatics, the highest court in Germany, the Federal Constitutional Court, issued a verdict this very week upholding all previous measurements and restrictions. It is safe to assume that a vaccination law will be covered by our constitution as well. And it will come; the incoming coalition is committed to get a vaccination law passed. It has broad public support, and now the highest legal support as well.

Meanswhile, what a nice list of people to avoid at all costs.

      • Amos says:

Please let us know how you have an intelligent conversation with someone about vaccines who believes that they contain microchips, who denies the lethality of the virus, who believes that a new variant (detected worldwide) is the invention of a political party, who insists that they cause rather than prevent viral mutations, who insist that it causes sterility and who think that the scientist/physician leading the effort is equivalent to mengele? A very truncated list in the interest of time/space.

        • V.Lind says:

Well, Nigel Farage interviewed D. Trump, Esq. on GBTV or whatever it is called last night…

          • Ellingtonia says:

            And?

          • Amos says:

DT and intelligent conversation are mutually exclusive. The man always has been and always will be the f***ing moron that Secretary Tillerson indicated after trying in vain to explain to him why NATO was of value to the US and not merely a tenant ripe for plundering.

    • V.Lind says:

It’s not about individual freedom. It’s about them wanting to play in front of full houses anywhere and any time. To save their jobs. I can understand their frustrations, but this pious posturing is utterly callous as well as ignorant, and as they will be overruled all I have to say to them is — tough. It has been hard on everyone.

      • HugoPreuss says:

I don’t get the logic of your post. If they want “to play in front of full houses” they should get vaccinated, and so should the audiences.

But the list is specifically about NOT getting vaccinated, and that is a pretty poor way of saving one’s job.

But yeah, “it’s not about individual freedom”. It’s about individual stupidity and conspiracy theories.

    • Nightowl says:

Unfortunately, these crazy people… they all escaped from Darwinism…

Do most of us appreciate Markus and also the noise and ruckus that came from his father?? I think not…

      • Fernandel says:

I bet you love Arvo Pärt !

        • Nightowl says:

          I do!

Say you were to host a dinner party.
You have some guests over that are not musicians.

They find out that you are a musician and ask you “Oh what kind of music to you like?”

You have them sit down minutes.

          A) You play them some music from Arvo Pärt .
          B) You play them some “music” from Stockhausen

          They go home.

Next time you invite them over (A or B) they are likely to accept.

Or (A or B) they are likely to decline your next invitation.

Anyways, furthermore, if you have any young kids try making them listen to Stockhausen for a few minutes and listen to what will say.
Reassure the kid(s) that this is great music too.

          • John Borstlap says:

I don’t get it. I love Stockhausen any day, it makes me relax & forget the world with its strains and stresses. When I play my recording of Gruppen, I no longer feel lonely at home!

            Sally

    • Nightowl says:

The new music “Pandemic” from Stockhausen took it’s toll at the time (and still continues today but most people are vaccinated from it)..
However, likewise the Covid situation is much worse.

Anyways, needless radicalism…Like Father like Son…

  • Plush says:

A good long list. It is their right to publish it.

  • Brettermeier says:

“Niemand hat das Recht, uns Menschen davon abzuhalten, miteinander und füreinander zu musizieren oder Menschen von kulturellen Veranstaltungen auszuschließen.”

Great, then you guys don’t mind if I join you with my Vuvuzela crew next time. Oh, maybe you DO mind. But as you stated, you DON’T HAVE THE RIGHT to exclude us.

Still not getting it? No? Thought so.

  • Stereo says:

People who refuse to be vaccinated should be confined to their own homes, simple. COVID vacs should have been mandatory from day one.

    • John Borstlap says:

In Andorra all civilians were forced by law to get vaccinated and on some days one could see people being chased by a doctor with a needle in his hand. The same in Monaco where, in hotels, people were lifted from their bed early in the morning by a medical team armed with syringes ready for attack.

  • Bob Spaghout says:

    A nice list of Germany’s “who’s noboby”

    • John Borstlap says:

The tiny silver lining of the coronie is that it flashes people out, they reveal themselves in their true colors. A pandemic as a moral sword.

  • Vax Doctor says:

I sense an opera coming called….. Die Idioten

  • Althea T-H says:

Each European government needs to respond to this letter, and to explain itself.

    The challenge is valid.

Question: does the European Parliament mean anything at all?

    • Brettermeier says:

      “The challenge is valid.”

Sure! 😀 Erm, valid does mean stupid, right?

They’re basically saying: You don’t have to pay for our concerts (price discrimination, booooo! 😉 ), and feel free to bring your own instruments (freedom, yay!).

“But nooooo, that’s not what they meant!” I know that. But that’s what they’re saying. Either you have the right to exclude people, or you don’t. I have the feeling they remember that right when people demand entry without having paid for a ticket.

  • Gustavo says:

Non-vaxing is utter selfishness while getting vaxed means you are protecting yourself and other.

  • Anonymous Bosch says:

About two months ago I was diagnosed with a condition which requires surgery. The date was booked at a hospital for 07 December. If you haven’t seen my name on this site lately it’s because I had to arrange and have a series of tests including chest x-ray, full blood panel, the always disgusting colonoscopy, EKG, etc. within two weeks of my pre-operation evaluation which was last Tuesday. In fact I had two EKGs in the same week, as when I went to have the colonoscopy they wanted me to have one at their clinic (they would not accept a fax of the one I had done a few days before at my doctor’s office).

I have also been scurrying around to find a way to get a government-sanctioned PCR test within 48 hours of the operation. Since the government’s “Teststraße” project has, so far, tested me but not sent me results, I made two appointments for tests at different venues on Sunday and, if results didn’t arrive in time, a €49 “quick test” at my apothecary on Monday.

I also had to arrange to have someone pick me up from the hospital, with no time-window available. My doctor’s office arranged for a sort of ambulance organisation to do this.

Early this morning the hospital phoned: my operation has been cancelled because some COVIDiot needs my bed (chances are greater than 90% that the patient is unvaccinated).

I asked to arrange another date for the operation. Nope. They will call me, maybe in a month, maybe later, and I’ll have to have all the wonderful tests again.

I spent hours today cancelling all the PCR tests, the ambulance service, notifying doctors, etc.

I had the double vaccination + booster, take a (non-official) PCR test at least once a week (always negative), and always carry an emergency FFP2 mask with me in case the strap on the one I’m wearing breaks, or I am in some kind of close situation with someone who needs a mask.

So: to the 517 signatories of this declaration – Please tell me about MY RIGHTS to get necessary medical care for a condition which occurs naturally in older humans (it nothing to do with alcohol, obesity, smoking, drugs, any virus, etc.).

I really can’t write what I am thinking.

    • AD says:

For what it’s worth, you have my sincere sympathy.
Your story should be read by all no-vax people, but I doubt they would understand the social implications of their behaviours.
Best of luck with your exams and surgery.

    • John Borstlap says:

What an utterly, terrible, shocking story.

It clearly brings the problem to the point in a most drastic way.

These crazy antivaxers are only concerned about their wish to play for live audiences, and don’t care a damn about what they are causing with their stupidity.

    • V.Lind says:

Let me join in sympathy (and outrage) for and at what you have had to endure, and wish you a quick and satisfactory conclusion to these difficulties.

  • La plus belle voix says:

The list reads like the great un(der)employed.

  • Gustavo says:

This Querdenkertum is just as disturbing as father Stockhausen’s music.

Thank God there are biotechnical solutions to the pandemic

Do these 517 individuals really want to sit this out?

  • Affreux Jojo says:

    https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.09.28.21264262v2

Since the viral charge in both vaxed and unvaxed is similar
And that most cases of omicron have been diagnosed among fully vaxed people and that vaccine pressure selection is a significant mutagenic driver many
The signatories have a point and do not deserve insult

    • AD says:

      From the same paper

While vaccination remains the best protection against becoming infected and severe disease [12], the data gathered in this study during the surge of the Delta variant strongly support the notion that neither vaccine status nor the presence or absence of symptoms should influence the recommendation and implementation of good public health practices, including mask wearing, testing, social distancing, and other measures, designed to mitigate the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

    • Brettermeier says:

You just read the headline, didn‘t you. “How did you know?”, you ask? I didn’t just read the headline.

    • Amos says:

Complete BS; no such thing as vaccine pressure selection, neutralizing Abs remove virus from the circulation, and mutants arise when viruses transcribe their genetic material. The more virus, the more transcription, the more mutations, the more variants.

  • Algot says:

Mandatory tin foil hats for everybody! Haven’t you heard about 5G? Given time, the non-vaxers will disappear by Darwinian justice… and don’t get me started about “alternative treatments” like homeopathy or anything else new-age that cannot be scientifically proven. People want to believe in something, especially if it’s mysterious. People are not as stupid as you think. They are far more stupid.

  • Gustavo says:

I have read all 517 names and have heard of only one of these musicians.

    I must be rather undereducated.

    • Nydo says:

I also only recognize one of these musicians, but I also live in the New York City area, so geographical distance factors in. I had a date with the one that I recognize about 30 years ago, and came away with the impression that she was incredibly self centered, and a bit irrational to boot…..

  • Couperin says:

    Whatta buncha dummkopfs!

  • EagleArts says:

May there be many more lists such as this in other countries!!!!! Will make it far easier to know which colleagues to avoid. Seriously, do these folks not understand what Pandemic means? This is not like neglecting to get the flu vaccine. Literally these people are putting all of the performing arts in jeopardy with their selfishness. Absurd.

  • Rob says:

There was no lockdown or discrimination pre 2020 for flu or pneumonia that kills millions each year. I smell hypocrisy.

I’m with these amazing muscians, one hundred per cent. You have my support.

    • La plus belle voix says:

Fact check: the health systems of countries around the world have coped with those diseases bis dato. In the current fourth wave, people are dying in ambulances whilst waiting for admission to hospitals. Cancer patients are having operations cancelled.

    • John Borstlap says:

It is wholeheartedly recommended to read something about what an epidemic or pandemic actually is.

    • AD says:

I think your numbers (millions deaths every year) are greately exagerated (but I may be wrong. Please provide a source). From a very quick search I found:

1889 Russian flu pandemic: Resulted in about 1 million flu deaths.

1918 Spanish flu pandemic: Responsible for at least 50 million flu deaths, including about 675,000 in the U.S. The flu infected about a third of the world’s population.

1957 Asian flu pandemic: Tallied some 1.1 million flu deaths,
including about 116,000 in the U.S.

1968 Hong Kong flu pandemic: Led to 1 million flu deaths, with 100,000 in the U.S.

2009 H1N1 flu pandemic: Between 8,870 and 18,300 deaths in the United States, and up to 575,000 deaths worldwide, were seen during the first year.

These are the worst recorded cases in (relatively recent) history.

Covid killed > 5 millions people so far.

  • Nicholas Ennos says:

    Roll of Honour

  • Nurhan Arman says:

This is a sad list of confused musicians. Personal freedom to take the vaccine or not; to believe in science or not should be respected. However everyone should have the personal freedom to attend events safely or to perform on stage in a safe environment. If you don’t believe in science or worried about the vaccines at least stay home during this horrible pandemic and don’t impose yourself on the society.
