The festival has just rolled out plans for eight operas, two of them in concert.

The eyecatchers are a new Katya Kabanova directed by Barrie Kosky with Corinne Winters in the title role, Jakub Hrusa conducting the Vienna Philharmonic.

Asmik Grigorian will sing all three leading roles in Puccini’s Il trittico in a Christof Loy production.

Elena Stikhina will be Salzburg’s new Aida.
