The German pianist Gina Alice Redlinger, who married Lang Lang in June 2019, is celebrating her debut classical release.

Among other interview comments, she says: ‘I am a Chinese wife. When playing Chinese music, he will give me a lot of inspiration, explaining the history behind the music and how to better present the emotion of the music.’

The album appears to be available only in China at present.

You can listen to  a sample here.

  • Simon A Bird says:

But does she do 40 hours of practice a day…?

  • bet says:

“And when playing non-Chinese music, I try to stay the hell away from his advice as far as possible.”

  • Ya what says:

Wonder how she landed this gig….I’m sure it’s 100% her own talent and hard work…

  • CRWang says:

“The album appears to be available only in China at present.”

I am thankful about this, even though saying it I will risk hurting the ever fragile feelings of the Chinese people.

I’d rather hear a recording of Wanda Toscanini playing the Cheese Drum than this CD.

  • John Borstlap says:

The poor Chinese people! This is commercial capitalist crap.

  • Sven says:

I found it slightly amusing that in the promotional video, the text “work for it” appears. Am I the only one who finds this funny?

  • caranome says:

Lang Lang: a husband with benefits…

    • Sue Sonata Form says:

Well, maybe. Look at the other posting about him here on SD today.

      • V. Lind says:

I’d like to — where is it? I asked a question on it and when I went looking for it to see if anyone had offered an answer (this blog is monitored so rarely that discussion among participants is very difficult) it was gone.

  • Piano Lover says:

Well well what do we have here.Being the wife of a famous pianist helps. She plays some Schumann from OP 15 on YT;I must say I like it.But no big deal-any one can play that piece.Wait and see!

  • IP says:

Can’t wait to hear their 7 pianist children.

  • Brian says:

I wonder if Lang Lang now introduces himself, “I am a Chinese husband…”

  • Gerry Feinsteen says:

Who needs Van Cliburn, Arthur Rubinstein, Gina Bachauer, or even Queen Elisabeth if you can have…..Lang, Lang?
