Comments

  • Worcester Sauce says:

Well I guess, like father like son, they were both on the fiddle…

  • Tribonian says:

“Sark Yves Amadeus”…. He didn’t have much chance of a normal life, did he?

  • Gary Freer says:

    Too much Jimi Hendrix?

  • Cynical Bystander says:

And the reason for printing this is? Those with a prurient interest in the affairs of the relations of ‘celebrities’ have other troughs to grub about in.

    • Allen says:

Mr Kennedy is not known for keeping his opinions to himself, so why should the publicity be switched off now?

      • Cynical Bystander says:

This is not about his father. The publicity is not switched off but maybe the comment should be, particularly when as you suggest the ‘sins’ of the father justify the use of this event to indulge in snide digs at him.

      • Observer says:

That would simply be called playing it wiser than him.

  • Ya what says:

Well that’s a bit unfortunate, innit

  • Paul Dawson says:

Just as with David Gilmour’s son (on a rather less serious charge), a QC hired for the defence. Given that both pleaded guilty, this comes across as a plutocratic attempt to secure leniency in the sentence. It’s hard to believe that a Crown Court judge would fall for that. I’d expect such overt extravagance to be counterproductive.

    • Bill says:

Perhaps it was the expert guidance of the QC that led to the guilty plea, in hopes that the CC judge would go easy on the errant lad, rather than throwing the book after having gone through the effort of a trial leading to a guilty verdict? Perhaps such a result could be had more cheaply, if everyone listens to reason, but then the proud papa doesn’t get the feeling of having spared no expense to protect his offspring, or the ostentatious display.

      • Paul Dawson says:

A very sensible point. I hadn’t thought of that. The current single upvote for your comment comes from me.

Nevertheless, I think that the optics of a QC pleading for mitigation are not good. A more junior counsel pleading that issue would have avoided any impression of plutocracy.

      • Paul Dawson says:

Matthew Feargrieve used a QC for the defence of his Siegfried punchup. I imagine her fee was some distance ahead of the £900 fine, £500 compensation, £775 prosecution costs, and £90 victim surcharge he was forced to pay, having pleaded (presumably on her advice) not guilty.

For some strange reason, Dick the Butcher is front of mind at the moment.

  • PS says:

Intermission means different things to different people.

  • BRUCEB says:

Would have been better not to publish this… unless the younger Kennedy is also a musician or performing artist of some kind, so that it would have been somehow related to music & the arts. And maybe not even then.

  • Rabengeraun says:

I remember reading once that Kennedy’s own father was an alcoholic and he was determined to be a better father to his son than his father had been to him. That can’t be easy when he has a career that involves being away so much of the time. On my the other hand, there comes a point where children have to make their own choices.

  • Tom says:

Sympathies. This must be painful and embarrassing for all.

  • Sue Sonata Form says:

Wirf 15 fousand pounds?? He’ll have plenty of opportunities to say “guv-na” now.

  • Pastore says:

I don’t understand why you feel it necessary to include this in your blog.

  • Maria says:

You can’t always be responsible for your kids at 26. One can all blame our parents for something as excuse for nor taking responsibility for oneself. Why is this being published anyone on here? Maybe if it were Nigel.

    • Max Raimi says:

Yes and the barely concealed glee expressed in more than a few of the comments here would be shocking if one were not familiar with the tenor of these discussions.

  • Paul Terry says:

Puts on Lady Bracknell voice “A Skoda ? In Worcester ? Really ! “

  • Herbie G says:

This could be the beginning of a great career for young Kennedy. I trust that he will now bring out recordings of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’ and Elgar’s Violin Concerto. He’s still studying how to trash hotel rooms, throw up over the audience and affect a Cockney accent – and let’s not knock it as his career will fuel thousands of entries on SD!

  • John kelly says:

Making matters worse, Aston Villa have lost 4 on the trot and may well be relegated……
