The Russian President is reported to have adopted extreme precautions to avoid infection in the current Coronavirus wave. He has even cancelled attendance at the World Climate Conference.

But nothing could keep him away from a fake 75th anniversary of the state Gnessin school of music.

‘You can rightfully be proud of the rich history of the Moscow School of Music, its enormous contribution to the development of musical art, national culture in general. And, of course, several generations of outstanding teachers and mentors. Largely thanks to their selfless devotion, sincere love for their pupils, the names and brilliant performing skills of the talented graduates of the Gnessin School are known all over the world,’ Putin is reported to have said in perfect Kremlin blurb.

The Gnessin school was founded in 1895.

It was nationalised by the Soviet state in 1946.

Actually, looking closer at the Russian text, we are not entirely sure that Putin attended in person.

He is still locked behind Kremiln walls, a political prisoner like so many others in Russia.

Putin is meeting with the president of Finland in Moscow this Friday, so apparently Putin has now left his bunker although the number of new covid cases is soaring.

It was not nationalized by the Soviet State in 1946, but decades earlier like every other institution. It had a major expansion in 1946 which is equally celebrated as an anniversary. The initial building from 1895 is now a small part of a much larger complex that was built by the Soviet State. https://eng.gnesin-academy.ru/history/

“A political prisoner like so many others in Russia?” I thought the jailed poltical protestors of January 6 took place in the United States instead of Russia?
