    This level of excellence has not been met or surpassed and will likely never be seen again (certainly not in Russia at this rate!).
    The later Soviet school went downhill, but those early decades: nonpareil.
    I would be curious to see a video of students at the Curtis from this time.

    Is the girl playing Liszt Mephisto Waltz (starts at about 27 minutes into the video) Aliza Kezeradze, the yet to be teacher and wife of Ivo Pogorelich? I don’t know, but it looks like it could be her from pictures with Ivo much later in her life.
