May God have mercy on his soul. I will pray with all of my heart that he is one of the lucky 99.8% of people that manages to survive this deadly plague.

Your calculations appear to be off by a factor of ~10. Approximate case fatality rate in western Europe is now around 2%, nearer 3% in Russia, higher for males 80+ years old. These are not trivial numbers. There’s no call to ridicule prudence.

      • Dingle Vander Splunch says:

Your knowledge appears to be off by a factor of ~∞. It blows my mind that there are still people out there that don’t understand that the infection fatality rate is somewhere between 0.1-0.4 depending mostly on the underlying health of the population.

In the US about 688.000 people have died of Covid. In Russia the number is about 200.000. Right here on SD there are long lists of musicians who have died. Are these numbers not bad enough for you? Do they have to get even higher?

      • Hayne says:

The US had NO early treatment. Just go home and if symptoms get worse, go to emergency room. Is this a sick joke or what? Criminal malfeasance. The CDC knew what it was doing with this nonsense to make everyone think the jabs are the answer. It’s painfully obvious they aren’t working.
The CDC, FDA and WHO recently approved dexamethasone for treatment of late stage covid.
Dexamethasone is a commonly used treatment to treat allergies in horses. Wait…what??
“You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”

        • (sigh) says:

Oranges and elephants. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid, used to treat certain types of inflammatory and bronchial symptoms in (wait for it) mammals. Ivermectin (the drug the CDC comment referred to) is used to treat certain parasitic diseases (worms, lice, mites) in (you guessed it) mammals. It is not a therapeutic or preventive anti-viral drug.

You remember, a long time ago —waaay last year— when this was a new, rapidly spreading disease that flooded hospitals with seriously ill patients? No one ANYWHERE had an early solution. Symptoms were treated; it sometimes worked, other times didn’t.

          • Hayne says:

In 2015 the Nobel Committee for Physiology or Medicine, in its only award for treatments for infectious diseases since six decades prior, honored the discovery of Ivermectin, a multifaceted drug deployed against some of the world’s most devastating tropical diseases.
Dr. Peter McCullough, one of the top 5 peer reviewed published doctors in the US and the top published in the world in his field developed early treatment protocols last year. I’m sure you missed it on NPR. He is also author to 35 peer reviewed publications on covid. He published the most widely used guidance in the world on early treatment for covid. He started this early last year. The CDC, NIH, FDA or the Infectious Disease Society of America have yet to publish any outpatient guidelines.
BTW, there are dozens of drugs that are used on humans and horses also.
I was being sarcastic on dexamethasone.
Just repeating the CDC hit tweet on Ivermectin. It’s odd though, why are they so desperate to denigrate it even though it has been so effective around the world?

          • Hayne says:

Ivermectin functions as a protease inhibitor against covid19 which could be the biophysical basis behind its antiviral efficacy.

Lo, and behold! Pfizer has a new drug which is in trials now, described as a “potent protease inhibitor.” Huh, exactly as Ivermectin does. It’s called PF-07321332. I bet this copy of Ivermectin will be a wee bit more expensive, though:) People are already calling it Pfizermectin. Damn that horse paste!

          • Amos says:

Comrade H I realize that your expertise in biochemistry comes from reading the front cover of Lehninger but if you had continued to the section on Enzymology subsection proteases you would have encountered the term “specificity”. There are many different proteases and even similar ones like trypsin and chymotrypsin have different substrate specificities due to differences in their active site. Similarly a protease inhibitor capable of inhibiting one proteolytic enzyme is useless against another. That is why when carrying out experiments where protein or peptide degradation is an issue one uses a cocktail of protease inhibitors. Accordingly, unlike the useless activity of ivermectin for combating COVID-19 the real scientists at Pfizer have potentially found a “specific” protease inhibitor for COVID-19. Please go back and actually read Lehninger before trying to “talk science”.

          • Amos says:

Comrade H winning a Nobel for the discovery of a drug does not give anyone license to prescribe it inappropriately. Give up promoting the worthless use of drugs with no efficacy, and in fact harmful side-effects, for the treatment of COVID-19. Get vaccinated.

        • Amos says:

Comrade H the only criminal malfeasance is your pushing drugs with no efficacy, dissuading the impressionable not to get vaccinated and your inability to communicate accurately anything related to public health and science. Dexamethasone is routinely used in humans as an anti-inflammatory for a variety of indications. You must have been thinking of your last ivermectin message. Nonetheless 2 disinformation posts today and another 2 bitcoin deposits.

This isn’t what it says in the “Russian media”, not a word about auditioners being unvaccinated. Interesting interpretation from Slippedisc.

    • Amos says:

“Russian media” shows a picture of putin auditioning for the concertmaster position, on horseback sans a shirt, and winning.
