The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s COVID protocols for the fall period of the 2021–22 BSO season at Symphony Hall, September 30–November 30, will require audience members to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative test result, either a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance or an antigen test taken within the last 24 hours. Options for proof of vaccination include showing a vaccination card, a photo of the card, or a digital vaccine record upon entering Symphony Hall. Proof of a negative test will be accepted for children under age 12.

Statement from Gail Samuel, President and Chief Executive Officer: ‘After an 18-month closure of Symphony Hall due to the pandemic, we are thrilled to be presenting a season of Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts for audiences this year. By requiring vaccinations and masks, we hope that people will feel comfortable at concerts and know that we are doing all we can to create a safe environment to gather for the collective experience of live music. We look forward to opening our doors and welcoming everyone—from loyal patrons to first-time visitors—to the BSO’s home.’

In other words, the Covid hysteria continues.

    • Amos says:

In other words disinformation continues as do infections, hospitalizations and fatalities. Add your name to Governor DeSantis’s lemmings opposed to masks list.

    • Rush redux says:

Snark Shark- right on! I urge all red-hatters to NOT get the vaccine. Many will die, including children, but that is cost of protecting our freedom. Don’t tread on me!!

  • Ken says:

    Get your shots, folks !

    • Pam says:

Ken, you should say this a bit more often :))) and I would say, read the new book coming out in November “The Real Anthony Fauci”. Maybe you would finally get some perspective of what stands behind the “science”. You don’t have to agree, just read it.

      • Amos says:

Pam, the real Anthony Fauci is a career public servant/physician/scientist who despite the deranged disinformation crowd continues to serve the country admirably.

    • Hayne says:

The waning phase of the vaccines is causing the virus to replicate more efficiently than it would otherwise. This is called antibody dependent enhancement. It is just basic evolutionary science. It’s from vaccinated people. The drug companies were warned about this before they rolled out their “vaccines.” THEY STILL DID IT AND ARE CONTINUING TO DO IT! This nonsense has to stop before more dangerous mutants are created. Treat people early.

      • Ken says:

There are mutants because the virus is circulating. And the virus is circulating because of the people who don’t get their shots.
So get your shots, folks !

        • Hayne says:

I’m so sorry you don’t understand basic science.
The vaccines were created to focus on a specific virus. That original virus is obsolete. Because of the weakening “vaccines,” the viruses in vaccinated people naturally try to get around this vaccine to survive. This is how these mutants develop over time. This can’t be argued away about unvaccinated people. Those unvaccinated people who get the virus develop antibodies which are as much as 13x stronger than vaccinated people. They don’t develop mutants like vaccinated people because their antibodies destroy the virus UNLIKE vaccinated people. It’s the vaccinated people causing these mutations.
It’s basic evolutionary science. I don’t give a damn how the CDC tries to spin this on unvaxxed people. They are so corrupt that they destroyed public trust of them. For those of you who are so naive and believe whatever crap they throw at you which contradicts what they said the day before…well, can’t help you.

          • Amos says:

Comrade H funny you telling someone they don’t understand basic immunology! Once again you spout bs. Scientists have demonstrated that T and B cell responses against the original wild-type virus contained in the mRNA vaccines are virtually identical against the delta mutant. Comparisons of T cell responses wrt HLA class II binding and CD4 T cell activation have both been tested by real labs conducting research reported with real numbers in peer-reviewed journals. The rest of your word salad merely indicates that you are now paid by the word. Keep up your ivermectin/hydroxychloroquine regimen.

      • Amos says:

Comrade H once again stop trying to discuss science that you do not understand. There is NO such thing as Ab-dependent enhancement of viral mutation. As you don’t understand when an Ab binds to a virus it results in the activation of the classical complement cascade and that Ab-virus-C’ complex is removed from the circulation. The ONLY thing that causes viral mutations is high titers of virus replicating. Go back to high school and learn some elementary molecular biology and find a new source of income.
PS Stop pushing anti-worm meds and hydroxchloroquine!

  • Curvy Honk Glove says:

This will surely be the best youth outreach promotion ever. The memories of these children’s formative trips to the symphony will be indelibly etched in their young, impressionable minds forever.

  • TruthSeeker says:

Never mind the fact that studies have shown that children do not spread COVID. Children, themselves have a greater statistical chance of getting struck by lightening or dying of the flu. I though we were supposed to be following “the science.”
Who cares about hearing any of these orchestras live anymore if we have to deal with this? Why not just listen to recordings at home?

  • Elizabeth Owen says:

No different to precautions already being taken in London’s West End.

  • Monsoon says:

I attended a theater performance over the weekend where we needed to show proof of vaccination or a recent negative test.

Despite the pearl clutching from people on this website about how hard this would be for ushers to manage, it went quite smoothly.

    • Hunter Biden's Laptop says:

Do you really think people are taking issue with the convenience or logistics? Would you be ok if you were required to show any other status of infectious disease. Would you (or maybe a female family member) be comfortable showing the status of your HPV vaccine? How about your HIV or hepatitis status.

      • Monsoon says:

That’s a specious comparison. COVID is spread through the air. That’s why there are so many precautions with indoor gatherings.

      • violafan says:

This really is the worst argument. Do you understand how difference viruses are spread?

        So stupid.

      • Bill says:

I don’t have any problem with sharing them. They are all negative. And not spread by breathing, either. In general, if there is a public health reason (as there is here) for disclosing status of an infectious disease that might be spread during an optional activity (as going to a concert is), I understand and accept the rationale for doing so. I don’t have any wish to contribute to someone else’s poor health, although I might make an exception for those who apparently do.

      • Mike says:

I should go and say I got the herpes too, just to mess with them but nah, I am done with classical music, I have become outdoorsy instead. Rather take a two hour bikr ride than succumb to this meddling.

    • Karl says:

Did you also have to wear a mask? Boston is going to require proof of vaccination or a recent negative test plus masks.

    • Mike says:

I do enjoy supporting an agenda which holocaust survivors are against…brown shirt.

  • Andy says:

I’m relieved that those who are willfully extending the duration of the pandemic are now being marginalized. It’s their turn to stay at home.
