Bach marathon organist dies at 63
RIPThe international pianist and organist Erik Travis has died in Minnesota of health complications.
He shot to attention by winning a 1984 all-Bach marathon in Washington, DC, sponsored by the American Guild of Organists. After studies with Emmanuel Ax and Menhaem Pressler, he signed with ICM Artists and was an international concert performer on both piano and organ until ill-health set in.
