The deaths have been reported today of three prominent musicians:

Veronica Irina-Kogan, founder of the Maimonides State Classical Academy, 75.

Cellist Joseph Levinson, formerly of the Leningrad Philharmonic.  He was 87.

Harpsichordist Alexander Maykapar, 74.

Eternal rest.

    Fwiw, Joseph’s brother Eugene Levinson was the brilliant principal bassist of the New York Phil since 1985 until he retired not that long ago.
