May 21-23 at 7pm BST, and then on demand May 28–31.

This looks like a must for fans of the British theatre. Knights and Dames – Dame Judi Dench, Sir Derek Jacobi, Sir Ian McKellen and Dame Maggie Smith, hosted by Sir Kenneth Branagh. Just talking, not acting, but we know they’re pretty good talkers.

With luck, they’ll share stories about their careers, inspirations, and their time in show business, and they’ve all been in the ‘business’ a long time so there should be some good jokes and a lot of fun, as well as a window into their experience.
All proceeds go to the Royal Theatrical Fund and partner organisation, the Fleabag Support Fundso it’s a good cause.

Unfortunately, this is not the “Death on the Nile 2022” cast – except for Sir Gilderoy Lockhart.

Truly a long time. Between them, the four actors have been around for 335 years. My first exposure to Dench and McKellen was a 1976 production of Macbeth directed by Trevor Nunn at the Other Place in Stratford. Between them they have incredibly diverse careers and accomplishments. Even in a mediocre play like The Breath of Life (2002) Maggie Smith and Judi Dench are tremendous. Then there is Jacobi, equally at home in Lear and as Claudius. Should be an enlightening evening to hear them reminisce.
