Corriere della sera has a lovely interview with Ada Mauri, former pianist of La Scala, who has been resident for the past three years in the rest home for musicians that Giuseepe Verdi endowed in Milan.

Grateful as she is for the generous hospitality and exceptional staff, Ada describes being locked in her room for weeks on end while the pandemic was at its worst. ‘The measures were very strict with a sense of bewilderment and loneliness that here – usually a place full of music – we had never experienced,’ she says. ‘Our life was reduced to a few square meters and every day was the same as another.’
