Anna Netrebko’s husband is performing as Azerbaijan’s poster boy in the disputed region of Shusha, cleansed of its Armenian inhabitants in the aftermath of the recent war.

Should artists be doing this sort of thing?

What else should one expect from a cretin bigot whose professional achievements are only due to marrying a star?

Thank you Norman for calling ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Armenians by the Turks for what it is. And yes, Azerbaijanis are Turks too.

  • John Borstlap says:

Why does so often the unreadable happen?

Artists should refrain from giving symbolic approval to crimes.

    • Tiredofitall says:

Sadly, they believe their stature in the performing arts world endows them with super-powers beyond the stage.

The stage is not a platform…

  • kukluskan says:

Definitely, he shall. At the end, he performs on the territory of Azerbaijan, where never lived armenians. Don’t post f*cking fake news

    • Tiredofitall says:

Really? Didn’t about 500,000 Armenians live in Azerbaijan prior to the outbreak of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1988?

    • LS says:

What the hell are you talking about? You look at any historical document from the past three hundred years, and it contains descriptions of Armenians as the principal indigenous population of this region (including in Soviet censuses from the 1920’s), despite how Azerbaijan is currently destroying all traces of Armenians in this region, from desecrating Armenian graves to tearing down Armenian churches. GTFO out of here, you KKK bigot.

  • Karl says:

He grew up in Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital. He loves his country, unlike many people here in the western world. This area has been disputed for 100 years and it has been ethnically cleansed more than once.

  • Bruno Michel says:

Shameful. Nothing short of shameful. Theatres, these days, will no longer hire an artist if he is tainted by a rumour of me too or woke complaints. This is much worse. Will they still hire him?

    • Tiredofitall says:

Will they still hire him? On Anna’s word, yes. She still has a few years left on her clock.

  • BRUCEB says:

Artists can express their opinions as they like, and work where they choose, as anybody else can.

And the rest of us can decide what we think.

  • pvl says:

I am really sorry for Anna! She’s really got caught 🙁
