Eminent Russian cellist, RIPmain
The influential cellist and teacher Alexei Seleznev has died aged 66. No cause has been disclosed.
A former protege of Mstislav Rostropovich, he became cellist of the Mosconcert string quartet and an international recitalist.
In 1990 he became a professor at the Moscow Conservatoire, where his pupils included Sasha Buzlov and the Tchaikovsky competition winner Narek Hakhnazaryan.
