An associate concertmaster of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Ted LeCouffe, has died of Covid-19.

His former music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, has posted this message:
Adieu mon cher Ted. Maudite COVID-19
Farewell dear Ted, we will always remember you, your music, your curiosity, your generosity of spirit, and your sense of humor. Thinking of Geneviève, Nati and Rutger. Damn COVID-19

Claudine Nezet, Yannick’s mother, writes:

Triste nouvelle! RIP.

Sad news! Our beautiful friend Ted LeCouffe, has passed away from COVID in the Netherlands! A cheerful and welcoming man, very respectful of others! Despite his health issues, Ted rarely complained! A career violinist, Ted had retired a few years ago. It was always a pleasure to catch up with him and his wife Geneviève on each of our visits to Rotterdam! All our sympathy to Geneviève and their daughter Natalie! R.I.P

LeCouffe and his cellist wife Geneviève joined the Rotterdam Phil in 1977 from Montreal.

Ted arrived in Rotterdam from Toronto in 1977. He played in the 1st violin section for 44 years and was assistant concertmaster of the
Rotterdam Phil since 1991. He will be missed.
