Soloist hauls teacher out of 40-year retirementNews
The Berlin pianist Kirill Gerstein has persuaded his mentor Ferenc Rados to record a Mozart four-hand album, four decades after Rados retired from public performance.
Steven Isserlis says in the CD booklet: ‘Kirill should receive a medal for having survived the trials through which he was put before the present wonderful recording could come to fruition.’
Rados, 86, taught throughout his career at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest.
The release will be out in mid-May.
