Maestro appeals from his Covid bed

This message is posted on behalf of the Venezuelan conductor Alfredo Rugeles:

Maestro Alfredo Rugeles is going through a delicate health situation, he has just been diagnosed with Covid-19 and was hospitalized for respiratory deficiencies. Like so many Venezuelans, artists, university professors, a diminished insurance policy leaves us helpless in a few hours. He is hospitalized at the La Florida Clinical Institute.

Alfredo is one of our most beloved Venezuelan conductors, a forty-year career in Venezuela at the head of the Caracas Municipal Orchestra and 25 years of the Simón Bolívar Symphony. Parallel to his tireless pedagogical work in important universities (IUDEM, USB) where he has trained many and very important young directors. Talented composer, Director of the Latin American Music Festival to which he has dedicated 30 years of his life for the music of Latin American and Venezuelan composers. But above all, a generous, sensitive, selfless human being, a lover of his family who today needs you, all his friends to face this crisis, which he will overcome with faith and medical care.
