Mikhail Kaykov has found an unreleased recording of three Scarlatti sonatas.

  • henry williams says:

who is the man in the picture. i like his trousers.

  • Colin says:

Which Scarlatti K numbers are these 3 sonatas please?

  • Greg Bottini says:

    Very nice student-level playing.

  • I think that it was around this age that he met for the first time Martha. And few years later in Vienna it was Claudio and Zubin

  • Sir David Geffen-Hall says:

Great playing. But not mature playing.
And certainly not what he does now.
    Barenboim is a real talent.

  • Mr Paganini says:

brilliant, really. he uses the pedal in certain moments of static harmony which is charming and quasi-brucknerian

  • Michael126B says:

Very fine playing although from a time when playing Scarlatti using all the features of a grand piano was encouraged. Reminiscent of Horowitz’s Scarlatti at some points -not a bad thing in my book.

  • pianomike says:

    better then than now, imho

  • Edgar Selff says:

I’ve never heard these three Scarlattis before, or the music that follows the Chopin etude.

  • Dr. Michael Kaykov says:

I knew you’d get a kick out of this, Norman. Certainly worth hearing! I enjoyed the Scarlatti and the Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4 especially.

  • Insegrevious says:

Is that a much younger Celibidache in the second photo?
