Teatro alla Scala is happy to announce that M° Zubin Mehta was discharged from the hospital in good health this afternoon. The fatigue of these days though suggests some days of rest. For this reason, M° Mehta will not conduct “Salome” with Damiano Michieletto’s direction that will be broadcast live on Saturday 20 February at 8pm CET on Euroradio.

Our Music Director Riccardo Chailly has immediately given his availability to resume Salome’s project with Damiano Michieletto that he had already started rehearsing in February 2020 before the pandemic. Today the Orchestra welcomed the news about M° Mehta’s good health and the arrival of M° Chailly with an applause.

Teatro alla Scala wishes M° Zubin Mehta a speedy recovery and waits him back on the podium as soon as possible.
In Marco Brescia and Rudy Amisano’s pictures Zubin Mehta and Riccardo Chailly during last week rehearsals and M° Chailly with Dominique Meyer during this afternoon rehearsal.

“Riccardo Chailly has immediately given his availability to resume Salome’s project”? She should be stopped at all costs – lives are at stake.

Best wishes…. get well soon, Maestro!

Well, imagine conducting Salome with a mask, and at 85. Of course Mehta felt dizzy.

    The Domingo of conductors.

I think Elina Stikhina will brighten happy birthday wishes to Riccardo Chailly with her singing on the 20th of Feb 😉
