Rebecca Young, associate principal violist of the NY Philharmonic, is earning fame on teenaged media TikTok under the rubric ‘Viola Mom’.

Well, everybody needs one.

Her colleagues are lending support.

  • Sir David Geffen-Hall says:

    Cute and clever!

  • BruceB says:

    That was really good 😀

  • Peter San Diego says:

    The cat stole the show!

    • David K. Nelson says:

Yes bravo to the cat – very few cats have this one’s timing and sense of the dramatic.
I never before focused on just how much Prokofiev was wasting our time.

  • Prokofiev says:

  • Greg Bottini says:

    Hilarious and delightful!
    Keep ’em coming, Rebecca!

  • JussiB says:

I don’t really consider NY Phil a top orchestra in the world or even the U.S. Many musicians and pianists will agree with me.

    • Rodrigo says:

Jussi, it’s a Tik Tok, for God’s sake. It was made by a musician who happens to belong to NYPhil & her friends because they are literally out of work right now.

No one cares what you think about the NY Phil & this is hardly the moment to express your opinion.

Do you think that by criticizing them you are somehow superior? No, you are just mean and ignorant. Reading between the lines of what you’ve written, anyone who refers to “musicians” and “pianists” as separate entities as you’ve done, is just a blathering idiot.

  • Nancy Rubinger says:

Loved this! Kudos to you and the rest of the gang. Great back up group: I miss you all.

  • Vlabear says:

Becky , you are a wonder and a total delight . Viola Mom forever (bratsche)

  • Donna Alpert says:

Your imagination and creativity know no bounds. I play viola and just got my 6 year old grandson started on violin. We love your videos!
