The veteran Zubin Mehta, 84, was taken to hospital in Milan from La Scala after feeling uncomfortable during Salome rehearsals.

He will remain under observation until Monday.

  • Love and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery to the outstanding conductor and magnificent human being, Zubin Mehta, with immense appreciation from Israel.

    • Hi Lior,
SO nice to find your name among the well wishers. Indeed music is the best medicine. Hope our beloved Zubin Mehta will have a complete recovery soon. Would love to reconnect. How can I send you our info?

  • Thank you, Mr. Lebrecht, for removing the offensive (idiotic?) content initially posted under this notice. We wish Maestro Mehta the very best!

  • It is good that he has taken the initiative after feeling unwell. We need to listen to our own brains as we know when something isn’t right with our bodies. I said this recently to an Emergency doctor after my own admission and he replied, “yes, but your brain often gets it wrong!”

    Go figure.

I always feel uncomfortable during Salome rehearsals. Doesn’t everyone?

  • I have always had an admiration for him and the talent he possessed and his true passion in communication of the music he conducted. I send my positive thoughts and energy to his healing in good health.
