The irrepressible Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla will make her debut with the Basel Symphony Orchestra tomorrow in a streamed concert.

She’s replacing Sir Mark Elder who is unable to leave Covid-lockdown England.

    Talk about a love fest: Mirga gets praised when she cancels concerts for family reasons and dubbed “irrepressible” when she agrees to a sub gig. Sheesh …

    I wonder how many uplifting adjectivess of the english language remain to be unused to praise Mirga in this blog… Better vocabulary source than Shakespeare for those still improving their english

    Apparently the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s music director Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla will move to the role of principal guest conductor from summer 2022, BBC Music Magazine reports.
