Dortmund Konzerthaus has been designated a Coronavirus test centre as infections rise across Germany.

From next week, the hall will offer tests for between 50 and 120 euros with results in 20 minutes.

Konzerthaus director Raphael von Hoensbroch said he was delighted ‘to reopen the hall to the people of the city under these unusual circumstances.’

The hall will continue to be used for closed reheasals and filming.

    Enjoy the nice setting

  • Michael says:

    …”as infections rise across Germany”…
Fact check: daily new cases in Germany have fallen by 30% over the past week.

  • Hilary says:

kensington town hall is offering tests for free and you get the results in 90 minutes. I tested negative a few weeks ago.

  • Nijinsky says:

EXCUSE ME, how is someone, anyone, an institution, an art form, how are they going to test for anything with certain people around. Has “Joshua Bell,” played in this hall, just wondering? Not only does the news contain supposed inferences, that when I send him explicit material of mine, because of his insistence, and his father’s business of trying to make out that means something, which he assumes as well; he can’t stay away from it, has a fling with someone in Spain, and then in order to facilitate the cover up, has his old friend, who used to do porno by the name of Kevin Wiles act like him, to see if he can get the hotel people to let him (who he isn’t, but Kevin instead) into the safe “Joshua Bell,” had paid for as part of his Hotel Room. It’s made out his laptop and a watch are stolen, so that the guy he had a fling with can come to Grand Rapids, ends up in a store near by, and doing sex in the park. Oh, and at night, you wouldn’t think otherwise with such courageousness. Before that in another incarnation was part of the whole mixup as to which music was Josquin’s, as that his music was played in Italy as if it was, and he should know better, and Josh should have stopped the moment I had called his managers (Oh, and yes IMG artists) telling him to stop bothering me (like um 19pfffFFFFT 1990 or 1989). And there are much graver things going on than that.
To skip regarding what kind of people he consorts with at an academic setting, also involved with such porno games; I just a couple of days ago, or yesterday, had to clear up a psychic bond that because of such devices I just delineated might not have freed someone. Someone who would have been stuck for the rest of their life, possibly. WHY did I have to step in? With this whole nonsense about his laptop, I thought it was like Dickens David Copperfield with Steerforth and Emily, and that someone he had had a conversation with at a bar and mentioning he had explicit material of Nijinsky had then gone and stolen it to transport to Russia. Like Steerforth takes off with Emily. But that’s more like Joshua Bell doing the abducting, and then the comment Steerforth makes in the movie with the Beautiful David Radcliffe (thank you Ms. Rowling) where he says he wishes he had had a different upbringing, something being still alive, not drowned, he really has the ability to do himself.
And that nitwit Joshua Bell still thinks he’s going to get something going on with me. And so this poor psychic has things about boats, and….. quite sidetracked because Steerforth took Emily away with a boat, and then shoes, because of the Agathe Christie story where a shoe is left behind as part of the guise to allow a painting to be stolen that’s facilitated by conning a child going to a boarding school, who then doesn’t have her luggage checked, where the painting is (The Girdle of Hypollita, by Agatha Christie). THAT is how dishonest and devious Joshua Bell, is and Jesus had to step in so the person that could have been lost isn’t, and Jesus you see also designed boats at one point in his meager short life. And if he wasn’t there in mine, I wouldn’t be here to give it some breadth, and depth, and that he can be my little son Manassa again, and….

    And that’s that…..

I don’t know WHY someone like “Joshua Bell,” ever gets the extinguishable privileges that he does. I don’t know why he’s head of ASMF except that’s it’s a whole marketing ploy, and a power play. Many many better leaders consequently can go on with their lives rather than having to deal with ASMF. Or is that the case!? Is it really necessary to have him leading the way in showing people who might save classical music that they have something better to do than get involved with his maneuvers!?

Oh, and I have virtual vaccine protection against the virus. Works the same, except it isn’t limited. The same as I had to recognize fragments to put the whole together. And then the whole story dissipates. And those who reach out get it exactly because of that, they know there’s no need for devices, nor lies, no loss, no fear of being done in because another got there first, no big stories, no news flashes necessary there….

  • Peter San Diego says:

The hall certainly looks antiseptic enough to be used for a test centre…

  • Andreas B. says:

    The first sentence is incorrect:
for about two weeks now numbers have been falling in Germany

Figures for 7-day-incidence (today at 101 afaik), reported daily cases and deaths, as well as for covid patients in ICU have been decreasing since mid January.

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/world/europe/germany-coronavirus-cases.html

Lockdown measures will be reviewed at the beginning of February as there are worries about new variants of the virus.

  • Mr. Knowitall says:

Infections are not increasing across Germany. Total infections and daily new infections decreased by about 30 percent in the past month.

  • John Willan says:

Let’s do the same with the RFH. It’s not much use for anything else.

  • Dortmund has to two places interisting I would like to go the stadium and the concert hall

    • Stephen Maddock says:

I’ve been to both (the latter many times) and can confirm that they are both absolutely wonderful!

Bravo to Raphael and the excellent team at the Konzerthaus.

  • Sisko24 says:

I did a quick Google search for photos of that concert hall. The pictures of it make it appear lovely. I hope the acoustics are just as nice. Front and center above the rear (choir) seating is a Klais organ. Perhaps the Germans will copy the Britons at Salisbury Cathedral and have organ music playing while folks are being vaccinated.

  • Karl says:

At least they are giving the concert hall employees some work. I read this.
“Almost 30 concert hall employees were trained for this. The tests for Covid-19 are carried out under medical supervision.”

  • JussiB says:

Forget concert halls. I’m going to Disneyland to get my shot. Can’t wait!

  • JussiB says:

I think they should open up Bayreuth Festspielhaus for covid test and vaccine.

  • Peter San Diego says:

Infection *rates* are falling for the time being, but the cumulative number of infections continues to rise; ergo, NL’s first sentence does not need correction.

    • Mr. Knowitall says:

Even this is not correct unless you also count cases that have resolved (recovered or death). The number of active cases is decreasing.

  • psq says:

In the spirit of applauding the creative use of artistic venues that are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, one still never knows what might jump out of the wordwork and bite your rear end. Black artists revolted against the Birmingham Repertory Theatre leasing its space to the English Court:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/19/world/theaters-aid-britains-pandemic-struck-courts-and-not-everyone-is-applauding.html

One can justifiably complain that the artistic establishments have a long way to go still to becoming inclusive enough. Now black artists are partnering artistic venues to show their talents. But … but … but there are now complaints about who shares the space they will make appearance in. This has the feel of cutting your nose to spite your face, because when the Rep goes bankrupt, they don’t have a progressive place to put their shows on.

The Lowry arts complex in Manchester has been doing (court) trials since October.
