The Valencian pianist Fernando Puchol, a specialist in Spanish repertoire, has had his life cut short by Coronavirus.
He recorded the complete works of Manuel Palau, Francisco Llácer Pla and Carlos Palacio as well as Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt.
Dutch National Opera & Ballet has chosen Stijn Schoonderwoerd as its new general director. He starts next month, replacing Els van der Plas, who went off to work in the museum sector.
Schoonderwoerd, 54, headed the National Museum of World Cultures for the past six years.
James Dickenson and Nick Stringfellow have left the Villiers Quartet, which they co-founded in 2011, ‘to pursue other projects’.
Their replacements are the Canadian violinist Katie Stillman (pictured) and London-born cellist Leo Melvin.
