The French contralto-condutor, who was named principal guest last week at the Philadelphia Orchestra, has been renewed for two more years as chief conductor at the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Norway.

She says: ‘This is my Norwegian family. The orchestra is young and eager to develop, and I am looking forward to continuing this journey with the musicians. This gives us the possibility of long-term thinking and that is a big advantage when you have ambitions with an orchestra.’

  • MezzoLover says:

I am a huge fan of Nathalie Stutzmann, both the contralto and the conductor. This 2019 interview, in which she talks to Reidar Mosland of Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra about music and about herself, is absolutely fascinating:

Can anyone imagine her riding a motorbike in a leather jacket?

    • Greg Bottini says:

      Yes, MezzoLover, yes I can!
And she’d look a hell of a lot better doing it than did HvK riding his little putt-putt.
(BTW, I am also a huge fan of NS.)

    • William Safford says:

Leather protective motorcycle gear is excellent to wear while riding. (I haven’t watched the video yet–probably tomorrow.)

    amazing condcutor indeed
