Stanley Cowell was brilliant in every aspect of jazz music – performing (he was a superb pianist) as leader and sideman, composing, and teaching. He founded his own record label, Strata-East, with another wonderful musician, Charles Tolliver.
He was prolific as both performer and recording artist.
Thank you, Stanley, for sharing your beautiful art with us in so many ways.
One of the best pianists and composers ever. I have been moved and inspired by his music ever since the Strata-East days. Thank you Stanley Cowell for the endless hours of joy. Rest in peace my brother.
