Yusif Eyvazov should join her. After all, he and Erdogan share certain affinities against a certain ethnic group. Performers who dare accept the beneficence of authoritarians and/or dark money should also accept the consequences of their being called out. The Netrebkos’ cozy alliance with Vladimir Putin is as clear an example as any of this sort of thing.

    • SH says:

Oh dear… your head is all mixed-up in too many clouds. What does Eyvazov’s open political views against Armenians (which is totally wrong) have to do with the opening of a new concert hall (which by the way looks great)
Good for them and for the music lovers and musicians in Turkey!

  • Petros Linardos says:

Another grapevine? I can understand the visual advantages, but I thought concert halls are for listening. Aren’t the acoustically best halls, old and new, shoeboxes? That has at least been my experience.

  • Le Křenek du jour says:

Do we detect a slight dent in our host’s adoration of La Gheorghiu?

  • Anonymous Bosch says:

Angie has already displayed her poor judgement in husbands and stage behaviour (overheard backstage when she skipped her Act III entrance in the now-legendary Wiener Staatsoper “Tosca”: “They make me wait, so now I make them wait”), so is it any surprise she now extends it to politics?

    • Peter says:

Cut some slack, she is only there to sing and good for her!
We all remember that Tosca in Vienna, the tenor turned everything into a 2. act comedy: first he sang twice (both as bad), then he made a bad joke.
      Cheers
