Believe it or not, many Bulgarian newspapers have not reported it yet. Too busy explaining the big issues of the world to an increasingly incredulous audience.

  • TI says:

He was a very good Des Grieux in Auckland in 2017 and the Auckland Philharmonia put out a statement from Music Director Giordano Bellincampi on their Facebook site this morning:

“…Sad news – the Bulgarian tenor Kamen Chanev – passed away yesterday from COVID-19. He jumped in to sing Des Grieux at very short notice with Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in 2017, cutting short his family holiday and going straight to the airport to heroically help the orchestra out. He was a great singer, and a wonderful man. Requiescat in pace, Kamen Chanev. “

    I was from Italy.
I knew him in Sofia 3 years ago, he was singing Un Ballo in Maschera. He was a very good Singer. I would like to hear him to sing Otello.
