Last concert in Wuhan

This is the Israeli pianist Ammiel Bushakevitz performing to a packed house of 2,000 people in Wuhan’s Qintai Grand Theatre on January 9.

He tells us there were already rumours of a deadly virus in the city, but no-one took precautions, kept their distance or wore masks.

A few days later Wuhan went into total lockdown and an information blackout.

The rest is history.

That was hardly the last concert in Wuhan. The local orchestra there is going to play Mendelssohn violin concerto and symphony no. 4 next week. They also have quite a few chamber concerts and recitals.

A Chinese friend told me that of all the concert halls in major cities in China, Qintai Concert Hall in Wuhan has the best acoustics in his opinion.
