The LA Phil has been told it cannot play again this season in its hall.

We are sad to share that, due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis, all LA Phil-presented concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall have been canceled through June 9, 2021. While this news may not be surprising in this climate, it is heartbreaking to keep our venues silent and not be able to share in the experience of live music with you.

    Not unexpected.

  • OboeBoy says:

And yet, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg was playing a concert today, Esa-Pekka conducting. Indoors. Few masks. But LA can’t do outdoor concerts at the Bowl? The county restrictions are over the top. Even as infection numbers come back up a bit, the death rate has continued to go down. Baseball is allowing thousands of fans at the World Series, but the LAP isn’t allowed to give concerts? Unreal.

Read this week’s NYT covid charts. Covid numbers are up but hospitalization & death rates are down BECAUSE of more testing. Tell that to the Dems.

  • Greg Bottini says:

A wise choice, unfortunate as it may be.

  • papageno says:

But why did they have to close the Bowl as well? SMH… those crazy Democrats.

    • NYMike says:

COVID is politically neutral. Your comment is BS.

    • Brian says:

Oh so you want to get political? The Republican supreme leader caused the World Leading Superpower (USA) to have a death and transmission rate as high as 3rd world countries. Can you deny he politicized mask wearing, as well as contracted COVID himself due to negligence? No, you can’t. He can’t even take care of himself.

So shut the f*ck up you ignoramus.

Other orchestras are able to have virtual seasons where they perform live for livestream. Why can’t the LA Phil/NY Phil do the same?
