Major opera houses should have their own resident designers instead of hiring these independent weirdo directors to stage trashy productions. San Francisco Opera did in the 1990’s and it was wonderful (Tosca, Rosenkav, etc.)

Another great opera set designer, Ming Cho Lee, died last week. Condolences to the Jaenecke and Lee families.
