“Crane, whence have you come? I wait for your call. Crane, have you no news from our homeland? I left my animals and fields, As I cry out, my soul is uprooted.”

  • Greg Bottini says:

    Bravo, Mr. Avanesyan.
Bravo for playing the ‘cello rather than shooting a gun.
    Best wishes from San Francisco!

  • Una says:

Beautiful playing but so heartbreaking at the same time, and that the world has come to this – of unnecessarily killing people and destroying sacred places in the process.

  • AndrewB says:

Poignant beauty in the middle of destruction.

  • Bostin'Symph says:

    Ars vincit omnia

  • Astghik says:

Bravo Svak. The response of Armenians to barbarism!
Famous Armenian-Belgian cellist Sevak Avanesyan played in Shushi (Artsakh, Armenia) at the Cathedral of Holy Christ wich was bombed twice by Azerbaijani army on 8 October 2020. Sevak played Komitas Vardapet’s song-Krunk.

  • Elizabeth Owen says:

Armenia was the first country in Europe to become Christian in, I think AD 303 and they are rightly proud of the fact, so many places are UNESCO heritage sites. I saw some wonderful churches when I was there and this is all so sad.

  • againstbigotry says:

This is what Yusif Eyvasov means when he says that this region inhabited by indigenous Armenians will be taken ‘back’ for Azerbaijan. What a bigoted nationalist pig. This cellist has more artistry in his pinkie than Eyvasov ever has had.

    So sad
